Eva Schloss, a Holocaust survivor and stepsister of Anne Frank, passed away at the age of 96. Born Eva Geiringer in Vienna, she and her family fled to Amsterdam after Nazi Germany annexed Austria. During the war, Schloss and her family spent two years in hiding, eventually being betrayed and sent to Auschwitz, where her father and brother perished. She and her mother survived until the camp's liberation in 1945. After the war, she moved to Britain, married Zvi Schloss, and settled in London. She co-founded the Anne Frank Trust UK, an organization dedicated to challenging prejudice and educating young people about the Holocaust. Schloss, who did not speak publicly about her experiences for decades due to wartime trauma, later became an advocate for Holocaust education, speaking in schools, prisons, and international conferences. She wrote a book, 'Eva's Story: A Survivor's Tale by the Stepsister of Anne Frank,' and continued her activism into her 90s, campaigning against Holocaust denial and promoting respect for differences. Her family remembered her as a remarkable woman, an Auschwitz survivor, and a devoted educator, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration through her books, films, and resources.
