President Trump Announces Cease of Military Action Against Venezuela, Emphasizes Cooperation and Infrastructure Development
In a recent development, President Donald Trump has announced a significant shift in U.S. policy towards Venezuela. In a post on Truth Social, Trump revealed that he has canceled a planned second wave of military attacks on the country, citing improved relations and a shared vision for rebuilding Venezuela's oil and gas infrastructure.
Trump praised Venezuela's release of political prisoners, describing it as a "smart and important gesture." He stated, "Due to this cooperation, the second wave of attacks has been canceled, as it is no longer necessary. However, all military assets will remain in place for safety and security reasons."
The U.S. had previously launched a military operation in Venezuela, leading to the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, on drug trafficking charges. The couple has vehemently denied any wrongdoing in court appearances in New York. Interestingly, Venezuela's National Assembly head, Jorge Rodríguez, announced the release of numerous foreign and Venezuelan prisoners, including five Spanish nationals, who have since returned home.
President Trump's focus on Venezuela's energy sector is evident. He mentioned that at least $100 billion will be invested in the country by major oil companies, known as 'Big Oil.' Trump also confirmed that he would meet with representatives of U.S. oil giants at the White House later in the day, further emphasizing his commitment to the energy partnership.
Chevron is currently the only major oil company operating in Venezuela, indicating a potential surge in investment and collaboration in the region. This development marks a significant turning point in U.S.-Venezuela relations, with a focus on economic cooperation and infrastructure development.
